1) tags

Recommended Format:
Keyphrase 1 – Keyphrase 2 – main title…

Those tags are the most important element for ranking pages higher in the search engines. As of Today all search
engines spiders use  the title tags to gather information about your website. The words in the title tags are what
appear in the clickable link on the search engine results page  called (SERP). What you put in this tag is a
key factor in determining which search queries you will rank highly with in the major search engines, consequently  generating traffic to your website.


Use 80 characters or less (4-14 words)
Use keywords/key phrases which relate to specific page content
Make title unique to each specific page
Start with page specific information
Include, your tag to reinforce brand identity
Remember that Search engines spiders  are not case sensitive, avoid unnecessary capitalization, and be consistent with your content.

2) tag

Recommended Format:

Search engines display between 110 – 210 characters from the description tag, including spaces.
Therefore the description tag should usually be kept to around 150 – 200 characters. It is important
to ensure that this tag reads well, and also that it describes the page accurately.


Limit the description to 150 – 200 characters or less (approx 25 words)
Use words/phrases which relate to specific only page content
Make the description unique and very specific to each page
Ensuring the description accurately as possible  will describes the page that  well written
When possible Include a call to action
Search engines are not case sensitive, avoid unnecessary capitalisation, and be consistent.

Use words/phrases which relate to page content separated by commas
Ensure keyword list is unique and specific to the page
Place the most important word or phrases at the beginning of the list.

The body is the part of the HTML page that lies between the and tags. This is the most important part of the web page, in that it is the part that is immediately visible to your visitors and hence is also the part that search engines spiders pay the  most importance to when ranking your site.
Special weight is given to formatted text, such as headings and text contained in links.

Good  Body Content contributes to a site’s overall visibility on a page-by-page basis. A site can’t be found for keywords/phrases if those words are not on the page. Your content should be keyword/phrase rich, as the number of times that a keyword/phrase appears on the page is used to calculate relevance by search engines. In general the more relevant key phrases your copy contains, the better your chances of being indexed by a search engine spider are.


Body copy should be a minimum of 300 words
Identify a primary key-phrase for each page and try to repeat this phase and related keywords in the copy 2 to 3 times, but avoid over use.
Use keywords and keyword phrases naturally, in a user-friendly manner, in plain language.
Use what is called an “inverted pyramid” which puts the more important aspects at the start of the copy.

5) Headings:


After your title, your web page’s header tags are the next most important placement of your keywords. Page headings are often displayed as graphics which a search engine spider cannot read. Even if the “alt” attribute in the “img” tag contains the actual words, the search engine will place significantly less value on this than visible text within a header tag. Since the tag holds important clues about the meaning of the page for the search engine spider,it pay off to try to include your targeted keywords in them.

Include the same keyword/phrase as in page’stag in the tag, to provide a consistent keyword theme for the page. Only use one per page.  Use subheadings for additional keyword/phrase Use CSS to control presentation of these tags.

6) Image Alt Tags

Image alt tags are short pieces of text, associated with a picture or graphic. What they will do is to provide people with information or descriptions of the images if they have set their browsers to block images or for browsers designed for the impaired site to provide text alternatives which can be read out. Search engines also use image alt tags to ‘read’ an image and index it with the rest of the website.
Search Engines spiders  take images into account two things when indexing images, the alt tag, and the name.jpg of the image, there fore both they must contain the specific test or name they relate.


Always include an ALT image tag description for all your images, graphics and thumbnails
Keep your descriptions of the images short and related to the image
Include keywords/phrase when relevant
Insert each description with the word photo, image or graphic
The file-name should describe the content of the image

7) Links

Links between pages, both internal and external are an important part of on the page optimization.
The internal links connecting various pages in your website are important for both search engine spiders and visitors to navigate through your site. Links must be easily accessible and intuitive to follow. Interlinking of pages within the content of the page is also important for boosting your  pagerank.


Make sure your navigation links are plain html do not use images but do use keywords.
Include target keyword/phrase for the destination page in the anchor text
Do not create links that read “click here” or “read more”.
Do not create links out of entire sentences.
Do not fill the page footer with links to other sites.
Do cross-link between pages in the web site.
Do link to external sites.
